Techniques with acrylics

The focus for October/November has been looking at different ways of using acrylics - from glazes to impasto and all in between. Here is a sample of the work this term.

Stella's seascape....

Eva created this using various acrylic modeling paste and texture gels, with collage added.

Nita used mainly glazes to achieve a variety of shades in this beach scene.

Margaret's treatment of the lemons makes a still life come to life.

John used impasto technique & painting knife on this flower study.

Jackie's stylised city image

...and a collage based on animals

Dorothy's trees are in mixed media..

and this landscape was made with impasto technique and painting knife Don used ink and watercolours for this study of a well, and Dorothy's buildings are an example of using Quink ink and bleach.

Some images of hands from the last drawing class

These images of Donald are rather uncanny - the superimposition of the face over the hand is very effective, don't you think? John and Donald at work... and John's hand

Pat's hands - I especially like the one of her right hand drawing!
Stella's hands and Jenny working

and finally Nita's hand! I didn't manage to photograph everyones' work - apologies if I missed you out!
